RENELVYN DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (RDI) CRITICIZES GOVERNMENT RESPONSE TO ALAU DAM COLLAPSE

The Renevlyn Development Initiative (RDI) has sharply criticized the government’s handling of the recent collapse of the Alau Dam in Borno, which led to severe flooding across Maiduguri. The flood has displaced thousands of residents, submerged homes—including the palace of the Shehu of Borno—and caused significant damage and loss of life.

1. FAILURE IN EMERGENCY COORDINATION: RDI blames the dam collapse on poor coordination between federal and state emergency response agencies.
