Real Madrid is currently grappling with a devastating injury crisis, particularly with multiple players suffering anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. In just over a year, the men’s and women’s squads combined have seen eight ACL injuries, a staggering blow to the club’s stability.

Latest Injury: Dani Carvajal
Veteran full-back Dani Carvajal is the most recent casualty, sustaining a severe ACL injury in a match against Villarreal. In addition to tearing his ACL, Carvajal also damaged his external collateral ligament and popliteal tendon, ruling him out for the rest of the season. His absence adds to Carlo Ancelotti’s growing injury problems, as he will need to navigate the rest of the campaign without one of his most experienced defenders.

Vinicius Junior’s Knock
In the same match, Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior also picked up a less severe injury to his cervical spine. While his recovery will be quicker, it is still a setback for Real Madrid, though the upcoming international break may give him time to recuperate before Madrid’s next fixture.

Ongoing ACL Crisis
Carvajal’s injury is just one in a string of ACL injuries plaguing Real Madrid. Key players like goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and defender Eder Militao have also been sidelined with the same injury, while David Alaba recently joined the list. Additionally, several up-and-coming talents from Real Madrid Castilla, including Cesar Palacios, Dani Mesonero, and Joan Martinez, have suffered similar fates.

The injury crisis has not been limited to the men’s squad. Real Madrid Femenino has also been affected, with Scotland international Caroline Weir tearing her ACL, further adding to the club’s challenges.

This unprecedented spate of injuries has left Real Madrid scrambling for solutions, with the club’s depth being severely tested across both teams. The long-term impact on their performance in La Liga and European competitions is yet to be seen, but Real Madrid is undoubtedly in one of the most challenging periods in terms of squad health.
