On Tuesday, protesters took to the streets in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, to voice their grievances over the escalating economic hardships facing the country. The demonstrators called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the removal of fuel subsidies, which they believe is a significant factor contributing to the rising cost of living, particularly the soaring prices of food and essential goods.
The protest began at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park at Old Garage, where participants gathered before marching through major streets in the city. Their route included key areas such as Oke-Fia, Dada Estate, and Dele Yes Sir, progressing along Oba Adesoji Aderemi Way and concluding at the Olaiya flyover junction.
Throughout the march, participants sang solidarity songs to emphasize their demands. Security operatives were present to escort the protesters and ensure that the demonstration remained peaceful, preventing any potential breakdown of law and order. The protests reflect growing frustration among citizens grappling with the economic challenges in Nigeria, particularly in the wake of recent policy changes.
