PROTEST ISN’T ENOUGH, SEND SIGNALS THAT WE ARE READY TO REPLACE THEM – SEUN KUTI

In the wake of nationwide protests against poor governance, musician and activist Seun Kuti has urged Nigerians to move beyond demonstrations and actively work toward meaningful political change.

During a recent appearance on the Rubbin Minds show, Kuti emphasized that protests alone are insufficient for addressing the country’s issues. He paraphrased Martin Luther King Jr., suggesting that enduring injustice in a so-called peaceful society is far worse than living in a tumultuous but just one.

Kuti highlighted the need for more than just protests, stating, “Protests are like a child complaining to a caring parent, but our leaders don’t care. What we need is mass organization to gain power.”

He criticized the current state of activism and called for Nigerians to not only protest but also show they are prepared to replace the current leaders with new, genuine representatives.

Kuti also expressed dissatisfaction with the capitalist system, advocating for a shift toward a more socialist approach to overcome what he describes as the capitalist nonsense currently prevailing in the country.
