The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi) is calling on Nigerians to seize the initiative’s benefits to alleviate economic challenges while aiming to convert one million vehicles to CNG by 2027.
During a CNG kit distribution event in Lagos, Omoh Imouchuede, Head of Commercial Operations at P-CNGi, emphasized the necessity of widespread acceptance to achieve the initiative’s goals. Imouchuede highlighted that successful implementation depends on the initiative gaining traction and support from the public.
“We need to establish effective partnerships and promote CNG adoption across all sectors, starting with mass transit,” Imouchuede said. “It’s crucial for everyone to recognize the long-term benefits of CNG and support the President’s goal of converting one million vehicles by 2027.”
Folajimi Mohammed, Managing Director of NASENI Portland Gas Limited, noted that the initiative is a timely response to rising fuel prices. The center has received 50 CNG kits and plans to convert 50 commercial vehicles. Mohammed emphasized that CNG is a safer, cleaner alternative to petrol, reducing emissions and potentially lowering transportation and food costs.
The initiative will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, aiming to make CNG widely available and beneficial to Nigerians.
