President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria. The ceremony took place on Monday, September 30, 2024, just five days after her confirmation by the Senate.
Justice Kekere-Ekun took the oath of office and signed the oath register at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja. She succeeds Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who held the position since June 2022 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Justice Ariwoola retired in August 2024 after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70 years.
