PRESIDENT TINUBU SEEKS SENATE APPROVAL FOR SEVEN MINISTERIAL NOMINEES

President Bola Tinubu has submitted a letter to the Senate, requesting the screening and confirmation of seven ministerial nominees announced on Wednesday. The letter was addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and was read during Thursday’s plenary session.

The nominees are:

  1. Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
  2. Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour and Employment
  3. Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu – Minister of State, Foreign Affairs
  4. Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Development
  5. Idi Muktar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development
  6. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State, Housing
  7. Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State, Education

In his letter, President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the consideration of the nominees. Following the announcement, Senate President Akpabio referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for prompt evaluation.

With the Senate’s last sitting of the week concluding, it is expected that the screening process will commence next Wednesday, pending the receipt of the necessary documents on the nominees.
