President Bola Tinubu has committed federal support for Borno State following devastating floods that have resulted in significant losses. During his visit to Maiduguri on Monday, Tinubu, who was received by Governor Babagana Zulum, expressed deep sorrow over the disaster.

The floods have claimed approximately 37 lives, displaced nearly one million people, and caused extensive property damage. Tinubu canceled his trip to America to address the situation personally, stating his solidarity with the affected state.

“I am here to sympathize with you. My Vice President provided me with details, and I decided to come immediately,” Tinubu told Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn El-Kanemi, during his visit to the palace.

The President commended Governor Zulum for his efforts and assured that the federal government would assist in the rehabilitation and rescue operations. He emphasized the shared responsibility in addressing the disaster, acknowledging the broader implications of climate change and environmental challenges.

The Shehu of Borno expressed gratitude for the President’s visit and support, alongside thanks to Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Zulum.
