President Bola Tinubu expressed profound sadness over the passing of Oba Gabriel Aromolaran II, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, who died at the age of 86. In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President highlighted Aromolaran’s dedication to keeping his palace above partisan politics and his openness to all political tendencies.
During his reign, Aromolaran also served as the chairman of the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers. President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Osun State, the people of Ijesaland, and the family of the late traditional ruler on behalf of the Federal Government.
The President praised Aromolaran’s steadfast belief in Yoruba culture and African traditions, which characterized his 42-year reign. Tinubu commended the late king for his educational contributions through numerous books and publications, his advocacy for justice and fairness, and his efforts to protect the vulnerable from exploitation.
