PRESIDENT TINUBU CALLS FOR INTENSIFIED SEARCH AND RESCUE EFFORTS AFTER HELICOPTER CRASH

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate escalation of search and rescue operations for those involved in the helicopter crash that occurred near Bonny Finima in the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday.

The helicopter, operated by East Winds Aviation and registered as 5NBQG, was on its way to an NNPC Limited facility, FPSO—NUIMS ANTAN, carrying contract staff at the time of the incident.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged military personnel stationed in the region to assist with ongoing rescue efforts and collaborate with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and other relevant agencies.

The President also extended his condolences to the Board and staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and expressed sympathy for the families of those who lost their lives in the crash. He prayed for the souls of the departed, asking for eternal rest for them and comfort for their grieving loved ones.
