Popular Nigerian singer Portable has voiced his disappointment following a recent meeting with Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate. The encounter occurred over the weekend in Benin, Edo State, where Obi was supporting Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, and Portable was in town for a performance.
In a viral video, Portable is seen excitedly approaching Obi’s car and exchanging pleasantries. Despite the warm greeting, Portable expressed his discontent after the meeting, lamenting that Obi did not offer him any money. Speaking in Yoruba, Portable compared Obi unfavorably to Bola Tinubu, suggesting that the president would have been more generous in such a situation.
“Obi didn’t give us anything. If it was Tinubu, he would have given us something. Let’s go,” Portable said.
Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, gained fame in December 2021 with his hit single ‘Zazoo Zeh’, featuring Olamide and Poco Lee. He has continued to attract public attention, often for controversial reasons.
