The Lagos State Police Command is investigating a 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemelie, for allegedly stabbing his father, Mr. Chiemelie, aged 68, to death at their residence on Oba Kabiru Street in Isolo, Lagos.
The incident occurred on October 3, 2024, at around 9:30 PM, following a report made to the Aswani Police Division by a neighbor of the victim. According to the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the neighbor informed the complainant about an altercation between the father and son.
Upon arrival at the residence, the complainant discovered his father’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, prompting him to alert the police. Hundeyin stated that officers were dispatched to the scene, where they found a blood-stained knife near the deceased. They took photographs of the scene, and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Isolo, where he was pronounced dead.
Chiemelie was arrested shortly after the incident, and during questioning, he confessed to the crime. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing continues.
