Police authorities in Abuja have initiated investigations into allegations made on TikTok by a Lagos-based land speculator, known as Ibile of Ibeju-Lekki, claiming that some officers demanded money for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to resolve a land dispute in Ibeku-Lekki, Lagos State.

The investigation follows a widespread online publication by the land speculator, who alleged that officers at Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos, declared him wanted for failing to provide N150 million, which they purportedly claimed would be given to the IGP to clear him of the charges.

However, police sources indicated that these claims are rooted in desperation, as the land speculator is accused of assaulting and kidnapping Chief Dupe Damazio, the matriarch of the prominent Oni-Orisan family, amid a land dispute. The case was reported at Zone 2 Command, but efforts to invite the land speculator failed, as he reportedly boasted that no one could arrest him.

The situation escalated when he allegedly orchestrated an attack against police officers attempting to invite him over the petition. Following this, he released a TikTok video accusing the police of attempting to extort N150 million from him on behalf of the IGP.

Police sources in Abuja revealed that authorities are taking the allegations seriously and have invited the land speculator to come to Abuja to substantiate his claims. However, he has remained elusive. The police have vowed to arrest him, especially considering his claims that numerous top officers were on his payroll, which may explain his reluctance to honor the invitation.

Meanwhile, the family of the kidnapped matriarch has sought the urgent intervention of the Attorney General of Lagos State in a suit involving Sikiru Oni Orisan and four others vs. China Harbor Company Ltd. In a petition filed by Ezekiel Upular, the family stated that a judgment delivered in their favor and a Lagos State Government gazette regarding the village excision of the land at Oju Ota village, Oko Oni Orisan had not been honored.

The family has discovered that a faction within their family is attempting to execute the court order for the land, allegedly seeking to undermine the previous judgment in their favor by using the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
