The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed a fire incident at the office of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon John, the fire, which was reportedly caused by hoodlums, did not consume any electoral materials. Despite the partial damage to the office complex, John assured that all election materials remained intact, and the election process is ongoing.
The police have reinforced security at AKISIEC offices and other strategic locations across the state to prevent further incidents.
