The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 165 illegal immigrants from several West African countries—Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, and Niger Republic—who were found living in cramped conditions in a three-bedroom flat in the Kuwait area of Birnin Kebbi.

The arrest came after a tip-off led detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to the apartment. The police suspect that the individuals may have been involved in illegal migration and financial crimes, specifically the Qnet Ponzi scheme. According to CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the arrested individuals included 35 from Burkina Faso, 110 from Ivory Coast, 11 from Benin Republic, 5 from Niger Republic, and 4 from Mali.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects did not have valid documentation to be in Nigeria. They have since been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and processing. This highlights ongoing concerns regarding illegal migration and financial scams in the region.
