The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) has firmly denied allegations of ₦4.3 billion embezzlement involving its top executives. The claims, which accuse CEO Ochuko Amah and other directors of misappropriating significant funds, were dismissed by PHED as unfounded fabrications.

Olubukola Ilevbare, PHED’s Head of Corporate Communications, labeled the allegations as misleading and part of a smear campaign by disgruntled individuals. She urged the public to disregard the claims, emphasizing that they originated from an unreliable source.

Ilevbare defended the company’s leadership, highlighting recent achievements under Amah’s tenure, including improved revenue, enhanced collection efficiency, and reduced losses. The company’s recent initiatives, such as salary increases and welfare programs, were also noted as part of its commitment to staff and service improvement.

The allegations had surfaced in a nameless blog, and PHED stated that such misinformation was a deliberate attempt to undermine the company’s credibility. The company remains focused on its goals and continues to address workers’ demands through discussions with labor unions.
