The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has officially rejected the results of the Edo State governorship election, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

During a media briefing in Abuja on Monday, Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Damagum stated that the people of Edo State voted for the PDP’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, and they expect him to be declared the governor-elect.

Damagum urged INEC to utilize the provisions in the Electoral Act to correct what he described as a flawed process, insisting that the electoral body should “retrace its steps.” He expressed concerns about alleged collusion between the All Progressives Congress (APC), a “compromised INEC,” and the Assistant Inspector General of Police overseeing the zone, which he claimed was part of a premeditated plan to manipulate the election results.
