PDP LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS IN AKWA IBOM

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has officially launched its campaign for the local government elections set for October 5, 2024. The event took place at the Uyo Township Stadium, where party flags were presented to the 31 chairmanship candidates.

Governor Umo Eno extended his congratulations to the candidates, urging them to conduct their campaigns based on issues rather than resorting to bitterness, violence, or mudslinging. He expressed confidence that the achievements of his administration would support their campaigns.

Eno stressed the importance of accountability, transparency, and rural development, and encouraged the candidates to align with his vision for the state. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working collaboratively with the local government.

State PDP Chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, praised the governor’s performance and acknowledged the strong foundation provided for the party’s campaign. He expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections and reinforced the PDP’s standing as the preferred choice of the people.

Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi and other political leaders from Ikot Ekpene, Uyo, and Eket Senatorial districts also commended the governor’s leadership and the party’s inclusive approach.

In response, the 31 chairmanship candidates, represented by Dr. Uwemedimo Udo from Uyo Local Government Area, expressed their gratitude to the governor and the PDP for the opportunity to represent the party. They committed to maintaining a focus on issues throughout their campaigns
