Chief Agboola Ajayi, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, has vowed that the party will resist any attempts at intimidation by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the November 16 election.

Ajayi made this declaration during a youth retreat held at the party’s secretariat in Akure, Ondo State’s capital. He assured supporters that the PDP is prepared for any tactics the APC might employ, stating, “We have seen signals, we have seen their plans, and we are not scared of any intimidation because this is our state.”

He called on the public to remain peaceful and resolute in exercising their right to vote, emphasizing that their votes are crucial and will be counted. Ajayi urged voters not to be discouraged by intimidation attempts.

Dr. Eddy Olafeso, Director General of the Agboola Ajayi Campaign Organisation, confirmed that the party is working to ensure that all its structures are prepared for the election. He highlighted the party’s unity and ongoing campaign efforts, criticizing the APC for its leadership failures, including a lack of developmental projects in Ondo State and the misappropriation of palliatives intended for the people. Olafeso expressed confidence that Ajayi would improve the living conditions in the state.

The state’s PDP chairman, Rt Hon Bakita Bello, also reaffirmed that the party would not be cowed by intimidation. He suggested that the APC’s poor performance has paved the way for the PDP to secure a victory in the governorship election.

Youth leader Tuyi Adekambi advocated for significant youth representation in Ajayi’s potential administration, proposing a 65% inclusion rate. He observed that many APC members are disillusioned and considering defecting to the opposition, reflecting dissatisfaction with the current party’s performance.
