Governors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed their dedication to promoting democratic governance amid Nigeria’s pressing economic and security challenges, particularly against the backdrop of the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement by the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum (PDPGF), Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the governors emphasized their commitment to democratic principles and the peace and stability of a united Nigeria. They highlighted the importance of providing citizens with opportunities to fulfill their aspirations.
As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares to announce the results of the Edo State Governorship election, Mohammed noted the significance of ensuring that the results reflect the true wishes of the Edo electorate. He commended the citizens for their active participation in the election.
The PDP governors expressed confidence that the achievements of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki and the qualifications of their candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, would resonate with voters, especially given the hardships caused by the APC administration.
They called on INEC to uphold its duty as an impartial referee and to honor the people’s sovereign choices, cautioning against the potential consequences of a disputed election outcome amid the nation’s challenges.
