Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State, has pledged to make agriculture more attractive if elected. During a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state Secretariat in Akure, Ajayi emphasized that the state has the potential to feed the entire South-West region if proper investments are made in agriculture.
Ajayi criticized the current administration for its lack of support for farmers, noting that there are no tractors provided for mechanized farming in the state. He promised to promote massive mechanized farming and provide farmers with the necessary facilities to enhance their operations.
Ajayi, who previously served as the deputy governor of Ondo State, is running for office to achieve his vision of economic transformation and inclusive, sustainable growth for the state. He also committed to addressing the issue of sea incursion in Aiyetoro, Ilaje Local Government Area, within his first year in office.
Highlighting his grassroots political experience, Ajayi assured that his administration would focus on reducing poverty, improving the well-being of the people, and reviving the state’s economy. He also promised to revamp the sports sector by building a modern games village to nurture future champions.
Eddy Olafeso, the current Zonal Liaison Desk Officer of the PDP in the South-West, praised Ajayi for his unwavering and tenacious spirit. He criticized the APC government in Ondo State for not prioritizing agriculture, despite it being central to Nigeria’s national identity.
