Paul Pogba is expected to return to professional football after his initial four-year ban was reduced to 18 months. The French midfielder was banned by Italy’s anti-doping tribunal after testing positive for testosterone last August.

In a recent development, Pogba’s successful appeal means he will be eligible to return to football by March 2025. According to the Daily Mail, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirmed that Pogba inadvertently ingested DHEA, a substance on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) banned list, which only affects females.

Pogba’s appeal hearing took place at CAS headquarters in Switzerland at the end of August, and he has only recently been notified of the verdict. The 31-year-old is expected to start training with Juventus in January and will be allowed to play official matches starting in March. Additionally, his original fine of €5,000 (£4,176) has been set aside.

Pogba’s original suspension commenced on September 11, 2023.
