Veteran Nigerian actor Patrick Doyle has expressed his disapproval of the phrase “I Am Chosen,” commonly used by members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries. In a recent Facebook post, Doyle labeled the phrase as “nonsensical” and argued that it contradicts Christian doctrine.

He stated, “The phrase ‘I am chosen,’ as used by members of this religious sect, should never be connected to the Body of Christ.” Doyle asserted that the members’ focus is on their General Overseer and the sect itself, rather than on Jesus. He criticized the phrase for failing to mention or imply Jesus, claiming that connecting it to glorifying Christ undermines the Christian faith.

Doyle’s remarks come amid increasing skepticism regarding testimonies shared by members of the church, which have sparked debate on social media. Some recent testimonies, including an elderly woman claiming to have disarmed armed robbers and a man who survived a kidnapping without injuries, have fueled discussions around the authenticity of such claims. Doyle emphasized that bloggers and content creators using the phrase are not mocking the Church of God but rather the sect and its founder.
