Pastor William Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Christian Life Ministry, has called on preachers to cease exploiting their congregants under the guise of “sowing seeds.” His remarks were made during a special program titled “Ministerial Renewal,” which was broadcast globally via satellite, following a Ministerial Conference associated with the Global Crusade with Kumuyi.
Kumuyi emphasized that ministers should focus on providing solutions and support to their members instead of financially exploiting them. He highlighted the importance of adding value to people’s lives, particularly those in need, such as the poor and widows.
He criticized some preachers who take advantage of vulnerable individuals by promoting the idea that their small contributions will lead to significant divine returns. He noted that many of these congregants, especially widows, often have very little to give, yet they are encouraged to “sow seeds” based on promises of blessings. Kumuyi’s call serves as a reminder for ministers to embody the lifestyle of Christ and prioritize the welfare of their congregants over financial gain.
