Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP) has officially announced the launch date for the highly-anticipated Papa Ajasco & Company Gen Z Papi comedy series, which will premiere on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. After weeks of extensive promotion across various platforms, including television, social media, radio, and billboards, fans can look forward to this new rendition of the beloved sitcom.
The reimagined series follows the iconic character, Papa Ajasco, also known as Gen Z Papi, as he navigates the world of Afrobeats music and competes with fellow musician Emperor Agu. Alongside the familiar faces of Papa Ajasco, Pa James, Mama Ajasco, Boy Alinco, and Miss Pepeye, the show will introduce several new comedic characters played by talents like Jude Chukwukae Ayinke Ola (Iyalegba), Jide Kosoko, Shirley Igwe, and Oluchi Amajuoyi.
Wale Adenuga Jnr., the producer, highlighted the show’s enduring legacy since its inception in 1997, stating, “As the longest-running TV comedy in Nigeria, we have remained popular by always keeping our storylines and production styles fresh and relevant to our viewers of different ages, especially the youth who are the majority of our viewership.”
Beginning October 15, episodes of Papa Ajasco & Company Gen Z Papi will air weekly across Nigeria and several African countries on platforms including NTA Network, STV Network, and wapTV. Viewers can also catch the show on DStv, StarTimes, GOtv, FreeTV, and on YouTube at the channel “waptvchannel.”
