Arthur Okonkwo is a product of Arsenal Football Academy. He played at virtually all the club’s age grade levels before he was promoted to the club’s senior team on July 1, 2021.
Since then, the 22-year-old goalkeeper has gone on loan at Crewe Alexandra, Austrian tier one club Sturm Graz, and then Wrexham on September 1, 2023.
While at Wrexham, Arthur Okonkwo kept 14 clean sheets and conceded 30 goals in 36 games as he helped the club gain promotion to League One, England’s third-tier league.
Okonkwo who has played for England from under-15 to under-18 level has until June 30, 2024, before his contract with Arsenal expires. Unfortunately, there are no signs yet that coach Mikel Arteta is thinking of offering him a new deal.
Getting a new deal from Arsenal might be a bit difficult for the Nigerian-born goalkeeper as David Raya who is on loan from Brentford is likely to make his loan deal with the Gunners permanent this summer. Also, Aaron Ramsdale is still battling to redeem his first spot, while Karl Hein is waiting for his chance.
“I haven’t looked too much into things at the moment. But I will, very soon,” Okonkwo told the Athletic.
“It is about looking at all my opportunities and seeing which is the best for me.
“I’ve loved it at Wrexham and they will stay in my heart forever. It’s more of a waiting game now and seeing what is the right move for myself.”
Note that Arthur Okonkwo has earlier in the year revealed that he is open to switching his allegiance to Nigeria to play for the Super Eagles.
The warrant was issued by Justice Benjamin Manji Lawan on Wednesday, instructing the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to immediately arrest and bring the embattled REC to court for trial on three allegations.
The arrest warrant followed an application by the Adamawa State Government through its legal representative, dated and filed on April 16, 2024.
Ari is being prosecuted for unlawfully declaring the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Aishatu Ahmed Binani, as the winner before the completion of the election results collation.
The complainant’s counsel, Leonard Nzadon, informed the court that the application was requesting permission from the court to compel the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to bring Yunusa Ari to court.
Nzadon told the court that despite diligent efforts, the defendant could not be served, revealing that the court’s bailiff had been in Bauchi State from May 2 to 4, 2024, with the intention of serving him, but the defendant’s whereabouts remained unknown.
The judge, when delivering the ruling on the application, pointed out that it was the third instance the case had been discussed without the defendant’s presence in court.

The President’s formal appeal was detailed in a letter directed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, and was presented on the House floor during Thursday’s plenary by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
The President is specifically seeking the House’s authorization to reimburse over ₦15 billion to the Kebbi State Government and ₦9bn to the Nasarawa State Government.
It is worth noting that Kebbi State had initially utilized the funds for the development of the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi, the state’s capital, while the Nasarawa State Government allocated ₦9bn for the establishment of the Lafia Cargo Airport in Nasarawa.
In his appeal to lawmakers, the President clarified that aviation, including airports, aircraft safety, and passenger and goods carriage by air, fall under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government as stipulated in the 1999 Constitution (As amended).
The letter read, “Establishment of a promissory note programme in favour of the Kebbi and Nasarawa State governments for the reimbursement of the respective costs of the construction of newly built airports in those states that have been taken over by the federal government.
“The House of Representatives is invited to note that at the Executive Council meeting of the Federal Executive Council FEC, which was held on the 23rd day of May 2023, it was approved as follows:
“That a promissory note in the sum of ₦9,000,542,651,786.11 be issued to the Nasarawa State government as a refund for the takeover of the newly constructed Nasarawa Airport.
“That a promissory note in the sum of ₦15,137,336,95.88 only be issued to Kebbi State state government as a refund for the takeover of Bernin Kebbi International Airport.
“The House of Representatives may wish to note that by the provisions of item three of the second schedule of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, aviation, including airports, safety of aircraft, and carriage of passengers and goods by air, fall under the exclusive legislative list.
“The impact of this is that ownership, regulation, and control of airports in Nigeria are exclusive to the Federal Government.
“In light of the above, I urge the House of Representatives to consider and grant concurrent approval for the establishment of the promissory notes programme in favour of the Kebbi and Nasarawa state governments, respectively, as prescribed in paragraph two above.”

The fact that Teebillz has shown so much concern about the status of Davido and Imade’s relationship may seem shocking to most people because he has no direct relationship to either of them.
Imade and Teebillz’s son, who he shares with Tiwa Savag* are friends, and that’s as far as it goes.
A few months ago, Teebillz called out Davido for being a bully, during his rift with Tiwa Sa***e, that led to both of them unfollowing each other on social media.
There was a document in circulation on social media, which was allegedly drafted on behalf of Tiwa Savag*, against Davido for bullying.
Teebillz seemed really offended about the whole situation, taking out time to drag Davido on more than one occasion.

Caitlin Clark drew 2.1 million broadcast viewers for her WNBA debut with the Indiana Fever against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, ESPN said, the biggest audience in more than 20 years.
While the Sun won 92-71, the Clark era in the WNBA began with a sellout crowd at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The game was watched by an average of 2.1 million viewers across ESPN2, ESPN+ and Disney+, the network said on Wednesday.
This was the largest WNBA audience since the 2001 game between the Los Angeles Sparks and Houston Comets. That drew 2.44 million viewers, according to Sports Media Watch.
ESPN, which has had broadcast rights for the league since 2003, said Tuesday’s game was the network’s most watched WNBA game.
Before turning professional, Clark was a fan favourite at the University of Iowa and helped draw an unprecedented 18.7 million viewers for the NCAA Women’s Championship game between Iowa and South Carolina last month. It was the first time in history the NCAA women’s final drew more viewers than the men’s edition, with
Clark was the WNBA first draft pick when she was signed for the Indiana Fever, although her debut did not get off to an ideal start. In front of a sold-out crowd, Fever fell to defeat on the opening night, and Clark herself took almost 15 minutes to score. She also provided 10 of Fever’s 25 turnovers , and got off to an uncharacteristically slow start, missing her first four shots, although she finished with 20 points, she made just five of 15 field goals.
Born in West Des Moines, Iowa, Clark’s rise to the WNBA has been a series of record-breaking feats. Always playing several years above her age group growing up, when she went to Dowling College, she caught national attention by breaking Pete Maravich’s record as the NCAA all-time scoring leader, that had previously stood for 54 years.
