The Nigerian government has said convicted certificate forgers, drug offenders, and cultists, amongst others, are not eligible for the federal government’s student loan scheme. Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

This was disclosed in a post by the administrator of the student loan scheme on its official X handle on Friday.

The post addresses some of the “frequently asked” questions by the prospective applicants.

NELFUND said applications by citizens “convicted of fraud and forgery, drug offences, cultism, felony, or any offences involving dishonesty” would be rejected.

Others whose application would be rejected include anyone “proven to have defaulted in respect of any previous loan granted” by any licensed financial institution and anyone “found guilty of submitting fake/fraudulent documents and dismissed for exam malpractices by any school authority.”

DAILY POST reports that NELFUND opened the application portal on Friday for the first phase of the student loan scheme, which is open to students from federal institutions across the country.

“The entirety of the fight is about how to mortgage your future and how to sell your children and children’s children into slavery. It is about the control of the common purse.

“They have the same people, they were doing it together. You can’t be picking sides with armed robbers who are quarrelling on how to divide the spoils of your home”.

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has threatened to report Justice Mohammed Liman of a Federal High Court for allegedly giving an order stopping the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido as the 16th Emir of Kano from the United States.

While reacting to the court order after issuing the reinstatement letter to Lamido at Africa House, Kano State Government House, Governor Abba Yusuf said, “The person that issued the court order was in America but he is ordering us to stop what we are doing. This issue of abuse I must present before the Governor’s Forum so that we can tackle it accordingly.”

The governor added that his government is an agent of due process, which is why it took action openly before everybody.

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has issued a directive for the repatriation of the remains of former Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas, from the United Kingdom to Nigeria. He commended the group for their unity in ensuring a dignified burial for Wayas in his hometown of Bassang community in Obanliku Local Government Area of the state.

Expressing gratitude to the governor for his support, Ehamhe expressed hope that the funeral would soon take place in Wayas’ native community. He confirmed that efforts were underway to finalize the repatriation process and announced that the date of arrival of Wayas’ body back to Nigeria would be communicated soon.

Ehamhe urged patience and cooperation from all stakeholders involved in the repatriation process. He acknowledged the support received from former governors, members of the ‘Who Is Who in northern Cross River,’ and other individuals in the state, while also highlighting the understanding and support from members of Wayas’ family.

The efforts to repatriate Wayas’ remains reflect the collective commitment of various stakeholders to honor and give a fitting farewell to the late Senate President.

“27 years in 10 days can be a lot of time or just the tip of an iceberg. It depends on how you want to see it. To me all these years have been precious. I feel each year, good or bad, has contributed a fraction into what I am today. I have learnt my own share of lessons in life.

From personal experience, five (5) books I’ve read so far this year and other peoples experiences. Today, I may not be able to pen all of them down, however, I will condense them into 27 brief “packages”. Life is journey and the lessons I collect are learning points.
