Oyo State Declares August 20 a Work-Free Day for Isese Day

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared August 20, 2024, as a work-free day to celebrate Isese Day. This annual public holiday, first declared in 2023, recognizes the traditional worship practices in the state.

Governor Makinde has encouraged traditional worshippers and all residents to use the day for prayer and reflection on peace, unity, and stability for both the state and the country. The declaration aims to honor and promote the cultural heritage associated with Isese Day.

The announcement was made through a circular issued by the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, in Ibadan.
