On the OyaNow platform, users can order from their favorite stores and have items delivered directly to their doorsteps, eliminating the need to deal with traffic or go out for necessities like food and medicine. Simply log onto the platform to find what you need.

THE OYANOW VISION

OyaNow’s founding vision is to become the premier business-to-consumer platform in Nigeria. In its seven years of operation, OyaNow has navigated multiple economic challenges and bootstrapped its way to becoming a leading provider of Convenience, Reliability, and Quality of Service for both individuals and businesses across Nigeria.

CHALLENGES AND SUCCESS

Despite facing numerous hurdles, including logistical issues in Nigeria, OyaNow has thrived. The logistics sector in Africa, especially in Nigeria, is booming, with a substantial market for food delivery. The COVID-19 pandemic further accelerated the e-commerce market, with nearly 400 million online shoppers in 2022 and a significant portion in Nigeria. However, many food delivery companies struggle with profitability, as evidenced by Bolt and Jumia shutting down their food delivery services in Nigeria.

THE OYANOW STORY

CEO Christabel Aigbogun describes OyaNow’s success as the result of their unique spirit and dedication. From its humble beginnings as a social commerce enterprise using WhatsApp and phone calls, OyaNow grew without external funding. The company adapted to economic changes by focusing on profit and loss management rather than merely spending on marketing. Their strategy involved partnering with high-end restaurants and prioritizing customer satisfaction, which has led to profitability and sustainable growth.

Today, OyaNow serves over 50,000 users, partners with more than 500 merchants, and operates in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano. The platform handles 21,000 monthly orders and has achieved a $3 million Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) since its inception, with a projected revenue of ₦400 million in 2024.

THE ROAD AHEAD

OyaNow has expanded its services to include OyaConcierge, a personal assistant platform that connects users with vetted professionals for various household services. Currently in beta in Abuja, OyaConcierge aims to simplify access to services like car rentals, laundry, and house cleaning.

With plans to launch additional products like Oyatalk and OyaShop, OyaNow remains committed to innovation and quality. Their slogan, “We dey come” (We are coming), reflects their ongoing efforts to revolutionize the logistics and technology landscape in Africa. While competitors may try to mimic their model, OyaNow’s success is rooted in their resilience, innovation, and dedication to exceptional service.
