Nigerian forward Gift Orban may soon join the Turkish Super Lig, with Trabzonspor reportedly submitting a loan offer to Olympique Lyonnais. This move could see Orban follow in the footsteps of compatriot Victor Osimhen, who recently joined Galatasaray on loan.
TRABZONSPOR’S LOAN DEAL FOR ORBAN
Trabzonspor is keen to bolster its attack and has made a bid that could bring Orban to Turkey. The offer, which is set to be finalized before the Turkish transfer window closes on September 13th, includes a €1 million loan fee with an obligation to purchase for an additional €6 million, contingent on specific conditions.
The conditions for Trabzonspor to make Orban’s move permanent include winning the Turkish league and Orban scoring up to 20 league goals.
ORBAN’S CURRENT STATUS
Lyon has shown willingness to offload Orban following the arrival of Georgian striker Georges Mikautadze earlier in the summer. Despite Orban’s recent impressive performance, including a brace against RC Strasbourg, Lyon may still consider the bid.
A NEW CHAPTER IN TURKEY FOR ORBAN?
The proposed deal is considered “interesting” to Lyon, though it remains uncertain whether they will accept the bid for the Nigerian forward. If the transfer proceeds, Orban would become the second Nigerian star to join the Turkish Super Lig this season, after Osimhen’s notable loan move to Galatasaray.
Orban’s potential move could offer him a fresh start after a mixed period at Lyon, where limited playing opportunities and inconsistent form have characterized his tenure. However, his recent upturn in form might persuade him to stay and compete for his place this season.
