Victor Osimhen has expressed strong support for Ademola Lookman, tipping him to win the CAF African Footballer of the Year award after his Ballon d’Or nomination. Lookman, who has been a key player for Atalanta, contributed significantly to their Europa League victory last season and scored a hat-trick in the final.
Continuing his impressive form, Lookman has also scored twice for the Super Eagles in their recent AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic. His outstanding performances have earned him a spot in the top 30 Ballon d’Or nominees.
Osimhen, speaking on the Counter Attack Podcast, praised Lookman’s achievements and character. “To see Ademola in this kind of situation, I am really happy for him because I know a bit of his story and his work ethic. He deserves every good thing that comes his way,” said Osimhen.
He confidently predicted that Lookman would win the African Player of the Year award, stating, “He’s a passionate guy, he does his job diligently. I’m really happy for him and I believe he’s going to win it. He deserves this moment, and I pray that he does.”
Osimhen, who has scored 22 goals in just 35 appearances for Nigeria, emphasized that Lookman’s success is a win for Nigeria as well, highlighting his significant contribution to the national team.
