Following Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham, Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala did not hold back her frustration with the club’s head coach, Erik ten Hag. During a Q&A session on her official Snapchat, she reacted fiercely to a fan’s inquiry about United’s ongoing struggles in the new season.
Oshoala sarcastically referred to Ten Hag as a “yeye coach”—Nigerian slang for ‘useless’ or ‘ineffective’—making her lack of faith in his leadership clear. In a now-deleted post, she shared a stern photo of herself and added,
“No ask me about Man Utd for now if you no wan make I swear for you…we will be back after our yeye coach go. My mentions for Twitter is a mess.”
MAN UNITED’S DISASTROUS PERFORMANCE
The match against Tottenham was a sensational disaster for Manchester United, who were comfortably defeated at Old Trafford. Spurs started aggressively, with Brennan Johnson scoring just three minutes into the game. Things worsened for the hosts when captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the 42nd minute, leaving his team with a daunting task.
Tottenham capitalized on United’s weakened midfield, as Dejan Kulusevski doubled their lead early in the second half, followed by Dominic Solanke, who sealed the victory for Spurs.
TEN HAG UNDER PRESSURE
The loss leaves Manchester United with three defeats in their first six league matches, placing them in a precarious 11th position. Despite the board reaffirming their confidence in Ten Hag’s leadership, the pressure continues to mount on the 54-year-old Dutchman. He will be looking to bounce back from this disappointing weekend when they face Portuguese giants FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, October 3.
