Olympics 2024: Nigerian Cyclist Ese Ukpeseraye Borrows Bike from German Team to Compete in Keirin and Sprint”
Nigerian cyclist Ese Ukpeseraye revealed on her X page that she had to borrow a bicycle from her German counterpart to participate in the Keirin and Sprint events at the 2024 Olympics.
Ukpeseraye explained that the short notice of her participation left her without a bike for the competition. In a gesture of sportsmanship, the German team (@bunddeutscherradfahr) stepped in to provide her with the necessary equipment.
She expressed her gratitude in her post, stating: “Due to the short notice of me competing at the Keirin & Sprint, #teamNigeria I had no bicycle to race with on the tracks. In the spirit of sportsmanship, the German team came to my rescue by offering me a bicycle. Thank you.”
This development follows another setback for Nigerian athletes, as Favour Ofili was not registered for the 100m women’s sprint but later competed in the 200m, finishing sixth in the final.
