Mo Abudu announced on Instagram that the Netflix original series “Òlòtūré: The Journey,” a spinoff from her 2019 film produced by EbonyLife Studios, achieved significant success with 1.7 million views and 3.2 million hours of watch time between July 1 and 7, 2024. This accomplishment propelled the series to number 6 on Netflix’s top 10 global chart during that period.
Directed by Kenneth Gyang, “Òlòtūré: The Journey” is a gripping thriller following an undercover journalist, played by Sharon Ooja Nwoke, who infiltrates a sex trafficking ring and must navigate the dangers that ensue. The series premiered on Netflix on June 28, 2024.
Abudu expressed her excitement in her post, stating, “Òlòtūré: The Journey made it to the official Netflix top ten global chart based on our first week of viewership from July 1st to July 7th, 2024. We are number 6 on the global charts with a total of 1,700,000 views and 3,200,000 hours watched.”
She highlighted the global recognition Nigerian TV series are receiving, mentioning the success of “Blood Sisters” on the global charts as well.
