Edo Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, announced that his election signifies a new dawn for the state during a briefing at the Presidential Villa after presenting his certificate of return to President Bola Tinubu.
He expressed his commitment to serving the Edo people and promised to collaborate with the opposition if they have constructive ideas. Okpebholo outlined plans to enhance education, including hiring more teachers and integrating schools, emphasizing an open-door administration. He also urged his opponents to congratulate him, stating that acceptance of defeat is part of the democratic process.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who accompanied Okpebholo, highlighted the divine nature of the victory and expressed joy that Edo people will have a governor who is accessible and understands their challenges. He noted that Okpebholo’s name translates to “the rescuer,” suggesting that he is destined to restore integrity and improve the state’s educational system.
