< 1 mn read

The Ogun State House of Assembly has summoned the Olu of Itori, Oba Abdulfatai Akamo, regarding his alleged involvement in leasing land belonging to the Ewekoro local government area. This move comes as part of an ongoing investigation by the Assembly’s Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption into the activities of the former Chairman of Ewekoro local government, Mr. Sikiru Adesina.

The committee is examining allegations that Adesina illegally sold government properties and leased local government land at questionable terms, including long-term leases to politicians and individuals without proper procedures.

The Assembly had previously summoned Mr. Ibrahim Isiaka, the representative for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, who was unable to attend due to health reasons and a medical vacation abroad.

The Olu of Itori, accused of leasing land at unusually low rates, is expected to appear before the Assembly at its next hearing. The committee, chaired by Mr. Bello Oluwadamilare, has invited the monarch and other key figures to provide testimony as part of the investigation into these allegations.
