ODUGBEMI TO SERVE ON PRESTIGIOUS OSCAR ACADEMY’S INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Renowned Nigerian filmmaker Femi Odugbemi has been appointed to the prestigious International Engagement Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This role will see him contribute to shaping the Academy’s global engagement strategy, including aspects like membership processes, governance, and impact programs.

Odugbemi’s one-year term, which runs until June 30, 2025, will involve working with a diverse group of international professionals to enhance global inclusivity and influence in the film industry. The committee will convene virtually three times over the year, in mid-October, February, and April, to accommodate members across different time zones.

“I am honored to join the Academy’s International Engagement Committee and excited to contribute to its efforts in promoting global representation and strengthening international connections within the film industry,” said Odugbemi. “I look forward to working alongside fellow committee members to drive meaningful engagement worldwide.”

Committee members are required to undergo unconscious bias training and adhere to the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, with all discussions remaining confidential to ensure a secure and constructive deliberation environment.

Odugbemi’s appointment underscores his growing influence in the global film community and the Academy’s commitment to fostering diverse voices and perspectives in the industry.
