Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has started building a 6,000-capacity arena in Benin City, named in honor of Nigerian Afrobeats star, Divine Ikubor, known as Rema. The facility, called ‘Rema Dome,’ is located on Ekehuan Road at the former Garrick Memorial School Ground.

Rema, a native of Edo State, attended the groundbreaking ceremony, expressing his pride in the state’s development and committing to support the project’s completion. He commended the government’s efforts and the unity and passion of Edo’s people, especially the youth.

Governor Obaseki explained that the arena was conceived to address the need for a large venue capable of hosting major events, including concerts, conferences, and cultural activities. The project aims to enhance Edo State’s ability to host large-scale events and promote cultural and entertainment activities.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including the state commissioner of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Uyi Oduwa Malaka, along with other government officials, PDP members, and dignitaries.
