Fast-paced indigenous automaker, Nord Automobiles, has made a significant entry into the luxury car market with the unveiling of its Nord A9 luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV). The A9, showcased alongside the Nord A3 sedan, impressed attendees with its luxurious features, striking design, and powerful yet quiet engine.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the expansive Nord showroom in the prestigious Lekki area of Lagos, drawing notable dignitaries from both the public and private sectors. The event has since become a hot topic among auto enthusiasts in the region.

According to the Nord CEO, the A9 is the first locally made luxury car that can compete with established models from Germany, Japan, and Korea. However, he emphasized that potential buyers won’t need to break the bank to own one. “We are offering a Nigerian luxury SUV at the price of a regular SUV as a way of appreciating the support we’ve received over the years,” said the CEO.

Mr. Oluwatobi Ajayi, Chairman and CEO of Nord Automobiles, assured that the new models will cater to various segments of the motoring public. He noted that the company has experienced tremendous growth, expanding its range of models from five to eleven in just about four years, leading to the addition of the luxury SUV Nord A9.

Highlighting the unique attributes of the A9, Ajayi noted its reliability, distinct design language, and lower cost of ownership compared to competitors. The Nord A3 features a modern SQRE4T15C engine and a CVT displacement, offering a maximum power of 115Kw and a maximum horsepower of 150Ps. With a wheelbase of 2700 mm, it includes an Independent MacPherson front suspension and a Multi-link rear suspension, electric power steering, and a fuel tank capacity of 70 liters.

In contrast, the Nord A9 is a three-row luxury SUV designed for family use, offering ample legroom and generous ground clearance with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Boasting a fuel efficiency of 8.2 liters per 100 km, it features a modern sound system and the latest automotive electronics for occupant comfort. Additionally, the A9 includes a self-parking option.

Both the A9 and A3, like all Nord models, come with a five-year warranty or 200,000 kilometers, further underscoring the brand’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
