Nollywood veteran Olori Funmilayo Adedeji, who has lived in Canada for over 30 years, has expressed concern about the erosion of communal living in the country. During her appearance on the Talk to B podcast hosted by Abiola Akinrinde, Adedeji reflected on how life in Canada has evolved since the 1990s.

Adedeji noted a significant shift from the close-knit community she experienced in the past to a present-day environment marked by mistrust. She attributes this change to the influx of immigrants over the years, which she believes has contributed to a growing sense of skepticism among people.

“Back in the 90s, communal living was prevalent, and we lived much like we did in Nigeria,” Adedeji said. “Now, there is less trust. People used to treat friends like family, but with the growing population, trust has diminished. The sense of community is gradually being ripped apart.”

She also highlighted that the increasing number of people has led to a more transactional society where favors are less common and interactions are often driven by financial considerations. “The world is changing, and as migration increases, people are becoming more money-conscious,” Adedeji added.
