Nollywood veteran Wale Ojo has announced his new directorial project, This Is Not a Nollywood Movie, via Instagram on August 17, 2024. Following his recent success with the award-winning film Breath of Life, Ojo’s latest work is set to be a satirical comedy, aiming to bring joy and laughter to audiences.
Ojo described the film as a “tongue-in-cheek” comedy, emphasizing that despite the title, it’s all about humor. “Laughter is an orgasm of the heart,” he remarked, highlighting the film’s focus on delivering laughs.
Wale Ojo began his acting career as a child in the UK series Othello and gained prominence in 1995 with The Hard Case. He won the Nigeria Entertainment Awards for Best Actor in 2012 for his role in Phone Swap and was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for his work in Meet the Adebanjos.
His extensive filmography includes Half of a Yellow Sun, Big Man, A Letter from Adam, When Love Happens, Ojukokoro, Lara and the Beat, and Breath of Life, which earned him the Best Lead Actor award at this year’s AMVCA.
Ojo also founded the New Nigeria Cinema project to enhance the quality and international reach of Nigerian films and is a strong advocate for education and the arts.
This Is Not a Nollywood Movie will feature Hanks Anuku, Shatta Bandle, Broda Shaggi, and Boma Akpore.
