NNPCL CONFIRMS HELICOPTER CRASH, THREE BODIES RECOVERED AS RESCUE MISSIONS CONTINUE

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that eight people were on board the helicopter that crashed on October 24, 2024. So far, three bodies have been recovered, while search and rescue efforts are ongoing.

In a statement, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, provided details about the incident, stating that the helicopter, with the registration number 5NBQG, was operated by East Winds Aviation. It lost contact at around 11:22 am after taking off from Port Harcourt NAF Base en route to the FPSO NUIMS ANTAN.

The helicopter was carrying six passengers and two crew members. NNPCL has assured the public that all necessary authorities, including the Ministry of Aviation, have been contacted, and they are actively supporting the ongoing rescue operations.

“Our prayers are with the passengers, crew, and their families during this difficult time,” the statement concluded
