Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, the Senate President of Nigeria, led a delegation of National Assembly members from Akwa Ibom State to offer condolences to Governor Umo Eno following the death of his wife, Pastor Patience Eno.

Accompanying Senator Akpabio were Senator Aniekan Bassey (representing Uyo Senatorial District), Senator Ekong Sampson (Eket Senatorial District), and Hon. Paul Ekpo (representing Etinan Federal Constituency).
REMARKS BY SENATOR AKPABIO
During the condolence visit, Senator Akpabio expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the First Lady, describing it as a significant loss to her family, the state, and the nation. He emphasized that Pastor Patience Eno would be remembered for her virtues and unwavering support.
Akpabio characterized the late First Lady as a virtuous woman who steadfastly supported her husband, helping him to realize his vision for an inclusive and unifying Akwa Ibom State. He encouraged Governor Eno to stay strong during this difficult time, reminding him of his faith as a Christian and that his late wife was a woman of God.
SUPPORT FOR THE LATE FIRST LADY’S LEGACY
The Senate President also commended Governor Eno for appointing his eldest daughter, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki, as the Coordinator of the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), the late First Lady’s pet project, ensuring the continuation of her good works.
GOVERNOR ENO’S RESPONSE
In response, Governor Umo Eno expressed gratitude to Senator Akpabio and his delegation for their show of love and solidarity during this trying time. He congratulated Akpabio on his recent national honor, GCON, and remarked on the importance of unity in Akwa Ibom State.
“This visit means a lot to me, my family, and the state. I have always prayed for unity in Akwa Ibom, and for our people to work together. Akwa Ibom State has become a model for the country and beyond,” Governor Eno stated. He assured that efforts would continue toward building a united state for the benefit of all and expressed appreciation for the condolences and prayers received.
