A group of young Nigerians has voiced significant concerns about the current economic situation in the country, particularly the scarcity of job opportunities and the difficulties in pursuing self-improvement. During interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, they highlighted various challenges, including unreliable electricity and inconsistent internet connectivity, which have impeded their efforts to advance in their careers.
Ms. Gbadamosi Elizabeth, a corps member, expressed her frustration with the frequent power outages and poor internet service, which have greatly affected her ability to acquire new skills to enhance her career prospects.
Nnamdi Ifeanyi, a photographer, noted that the basic amenities expected in society are often lacking, making it difficult for young people to succeed. He also mentioned the rising costs of goods and services, which have made it challenging for even those who are employed to meet their needs.
Oscar Laurenzo, a civil servant, discussed the economic hardships caused by inflation and recession, noting that financial stability is increasingly difficult to achieve. He also pointed out the financial strain of enrolling in online courses, worsened by the high cost of data, the increasing value of the dollar, and frequent power interruptions.
Despite these challenges, the youths stressed the importance of resilience and determination in overcoming the obstacles they face.
