Nigerian South African-based technology entrepreneur and convener of the Evolve X Conference, Charles Awuzie, has revealed that the third edition of the annual Evolve Conference (Evolve 3.0) will take place in London, United Kingdom, next September.
Awuzie, founder of Gemsbok Group and co-founder of Transhuman Coin (THC), made the announcement during the second edition of the Evolve Conference (Evolve 2.0), held on Friday in Lagos. The event, themed “Building Borderless Businesses,” was hosted by 2014 Miss United Nations and actress, Dr. Precious Chikwendu.
He explained that relocating the conference to London reflects his dedication to helping Nigerian and African entrepreneurs expand their brands and businesses beyond the continent.
Awuzie identified several barriers that prevent African businesses from achieving global reach, including digital, physical, industry, and generational borders. He expressed his mission to encourage entrepreneurs to move beyond their comfort zones and to recognize the vast opportunities available in borderless business.
He urged African entrepreneurs to pursue new markets, similar to their American and Chinese counterparts, stressing that for the Nigerian economy to recover, it is essential for entrepreneurs and skilled individuals to think globally.
Awuzie noted that while many Nigerian religious leaders have successfully established churches worldwide, there are comparatively fewer Nigerian businesses doing the same. He emphasized that the Evolve Conference aims to address this gap and foster ongoing efforts beyond the conference itself.
He underscored that the Evolve Conference is more than just an event; it is a community that offers continuous support and mentorship.
During the conference, Awuzie also launched the $1 million Africa Tech Fund, a startup fund he leads through a strategic partnership with American venture capital.
Co-host and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ossai Ilome highlighted that the Evolve Conference and its community celebrate unity, vision, and action, serving as a transformative force that transcends borders, cultures, and challenges.
