The Commander of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) in Kano State, Abdullahi Al-ameen, reported on the service’s activities in tackling crime within Kano forests. In May alone, they handled 19 cases ranging from animal theft to more serious offenses like child abuse, tricycle theft, kidnapping, and phone snatching.
Out of these cases, 16 have been resolved, while three are still under investigation. Al-ameen emphasized the service’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate of preventing and detecting crimes in forested areas. He also highlighted their collaborative efforts with community policing stakeholders to enhance security measures.
Al-ameen called for public cooperation to achieve a crime-free environment in Kano State, aiming to make it a safer place for all residents. This initiative underscores the role of local security services and community engagement in addressing various criminal activities effectively.
