The Nigerian Army, in its latest operations, has rescued several kidnapped hostages and neutralized terrorists during sweeping counter-insurgency efforts across the country.

On September 22, troops thwarted a terrorist raid aimed at looting villages in Borno State. Three terrorists were killed during the encounter, and troops recovered a significant haul of weapons, including a light machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades, five rifle magazines, 200 linked rounds of light machine gun ammunition, as well as cash and phones.

In another operation, acting on credible intelligence, troops intercepted terrorists escorting abducted hostages through Uvaha village in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State. Despite heavy rainfall, the soldiers pursued the terrorists, eliminating one and forcing the rest to flee, leaving behind 16 hostages, including 10 men and 6 women. A search of the area uncovered additional weapons and items.

In Yobe State, an ambush set by troops in Madza and Azare villages of Gujba Local Government Area led to the elimination of four terrorists. Two AK-47 rifles, magazines, and other items were seized from the assailants.

Additionally, security forces deployed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in collaboration with other agencies, conducted stop-and-search operations in Kugbo, Abuja. They arrested a suspect carrying 178 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition concealed in a bag of flour, alongside a mobile phone and ₦29,000.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism, insurgency, and other criminal activities, urging the public to continue providing tips and information to security agencies for prompt action.
