The Nigerian Army has refuted rumors circulating on social media about the death of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja. Through its official X handle, @HQNigerianArmy, the Army labeled these speculations as fake news.

The rumors gained traction after an online platform claimed that the Army Chief had died of cancer. In response, the Nigerian Army released a statement urging the public to disregard the false reports, saying, “Please, disregard the rumours circulating about the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja. The false reports purported by unverifiable sources are baseless and misleading.”

The Army stressed the need for the public to rely on credible sources for accurate information and cautioned against misinformation from unreliable outlets.
