The Nigerian Army reported significant successes against terrorists, neutralizing several high-profile fighters and seizing lethal weapons, including rocket bombs and a substantial cache of ammunition.
In a statement from Army headquarters, it was noted that these operations have effectively hindered the terrorists’ operational capabilities nationwide.
On September 29, 2024, a high-intensity raid targeted Boko Haram and ISWAP strongholds in Ajiri and Mastari villages in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. During this operation, troops utilized superior firepower to eliminate four notorious fighters. A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs, two AK-47 magazines, 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62x54mm light machine gun ammunition, and a light machine gun barrel.
Additionally, in an encounter at Banki Junction within Bama, another terrorist was neutralized. In Plateau State, troops conducted a successful raid based on precise intelligence, resulting in the capture of two kidnappers, Isah Abdullahi (24) and Mujahid Musa (23), believed to be involved in violent attacks on villages in Mangu Local Government Area. Recovered items included two motorcycles, three mobile phones, and other related paraphernalia.
In a related operation, troops apprehended a notorious arms dealer, Kabiru Zaki, in Bukuru town, Jos South Local Government Area, alongside another suspect linked to a recent murder in Brazongo village, Bassa Local Government Area.
In South Eastern Nigeria, troops engaged in fierce combat with IPOB/ESN terrorists in Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State, after the militants attempted to ambush the troops using an Improvised Explosive Device. Overwhelmed by the army’s superior firepower, the terrorists retreated into the surrounding area
