In a coordinated operation, Nigerian Army troops from the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) successfully apprehended three individuals linked to banditry in Taraba State. The suspects, identified as Adamu Abubakar, Mohammed Bello, and Musa Adamu, were captured in Andamin village within the Karim Lamido local government area.
In a related operation in the Lau local government area, the army also detained Musa Inusa, who is suspected of supplying essential materials to terrorist groups operating in the region. According to Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Brigade spokesperson, Inusa’s arrest is expected to disrupt the supply chain, thereby weakening the operational capabilities of the terrorist group.
Seized Items and Ongoing Efforts
During these operations, troops recovered various items, including a jackknife, cash amounting to ₦2,460, and suspected illicit substances like Indian hemp, suggesting further criminal affiliations among the suspects.
Olubodunde stated that the army’s actions are part of a broader initiative to enhance security and curb rising violence in Taraba’s border communities, which have recently been affected by banditry and terrorist activities. He emphasized that these arrests represent critical steps toward stabilizing the region and restoring peace.
The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with OPWS, reaffirms its commitment to eradicating threats to peace in Taraba State and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
